Parts for KTM Adventure models

With the 390, 890 and 1290 Adventure models, KTM has realised the concept of fully offroad-capable adventure bikes in three displacement classes. Touratech helps adventure riders to create their personal dream bikes by individualising their vehicles with model-specific accessory solutions.

When KTM first introduced an Adventure model in 1997, parallel to the 620 LC4, it became immediately clear to those in the scene that the Austrians were taking this designation very seriously. Based on years of experience in enduro riding and rallying, KTM was the first mass-production manufacturer to make motorsport material available to adventure riders with the 620 Adventure.

The powerful engine and long-stroke spring elements were combined with a large tank and long-distance ergonomics to create a concept that delighted gritty adventure riders. Even with a full touring load, an Adventure can still be driven over trails that are completely impassable for other "touring enduros".

Although the first Adventure models, based on the 620 and 640 single cylinders, were not yet big sellers, KTM stuck to the concept of the fully offroad-capable adventure bike. What followed were the 950 and 990 Adventure two-cylinder models – again inspired by the Dakar racers – which were succeeded by the 1090 Adventure. From 2016, the fourth generation was available, with the 1290 Adventure in two versions for touring and adventure travel respectively, as well as the top-of-the-range 1290 Adventure T model with a 30-litre tank.

For the 2019 season, KTM further diversified its displacement range. An in-line two-cylinder was used in the 790 Adventure for the first time. This powerful parallel twin fits perfectly into the Adventure concept. And there is also a fully offroad version of the new mid-range adventure bike in addition to a road-oriented version – typical of KTM with an "R" appended to the model designation. In the course of the model's evolution, the 790 finally became today's 890 Adventure.

And in the same year as the 790, the KTM 390 Adventure also took to the stage. Powered by a 44 hp single-cylinder engine, this is the motorcycle for adventure-hungry beginners with an A2 driving licence.

In model year 2022, KTM is more broadly positioned than ever before with the 890 Adventure and 1290 Super Adventure models as well as the 390 Adventure. The 890 and 1290 are both available in more street-oriented versions with 19/17-inch cast wheels and shorter spring travel, or as an R version with 21/18-inch spoke wheels and spring elements for tough trail use.

Touratech as a partner since the very beginning

Touratech has accompanied the evolution of the Adventure models since the very beginning. Touratech had already developed an ultra-robust aluminium pannier system with an indestructible 18/2-millimetre steel tube rack for the 620 Adventure. This luggage system impressed KTM to such an extent that it could be ordered as an original accessory from the factory. This trust has remained to this day. For the current Adventure models, KTM also offers its discerning customers luggage systems made in Niedereschach as accessories, either ex works or via the Power Parts programme.

But the gritty adventures have inspired Touratech's creative minds to come up with numerous other accessory solutions. For ultra offroad-capable machines, a comprehensive range of protectors is essential. This covers everything from the Rally Evo and Expedition engine guards to tank crash bars, fairing crash bars, radiator and handlebar protectors and small parts such as a cover for the brake fluid reservoir.

The Touratech product range also offers numerous sensible solutions for individualising the ergonomics. These include the comfort seat, for example, available with different seat heights for different leg lengths, or the handlebar riser, which makes riding while standing much more comfortable.

The development department has also given a lot of thought to luggage. With the ZEGA special system, for example, the pannier is shaped to fit snugly around the exhaust, allowing the maximum of storage space with the minimum of overall width. Of course, there is also a ZEGA topcase with rack. And in the field of soft luggage as well, adventure riders will find the solution that best suits their needs at Touratech – be it in the form of a tank bag tailored specifically to the model, a tail rack bag or a complete system made of waterproof textile.

GPS adapters, folding and adjustable hand and foot levers, hard parts and many small accessories round off the range of auxiliary equipment developed from practical experience for practical use.

KTM and Touratech are two brands that stand for uncompromising quality out on the trail – as much today as they did almost 25 years ago.
