With the TMACS quick-release fastener, Touratech is opening a new chapter in soft luggage design. It has never been so easy to attach a tank bag to a motorcycle reliably and comfortably. Discerning riders of touring enduros will find the perfect combination of practicality and reliability here.
The tank is almost empty, the next petrol station is in sight. A quick stop, gloves off, tank bag down – but this time there's no fiddling around. A quick pull on the strap, a quiet ‘click’, and the tank bag can be removed. Fill up, pay, put it back on. Practical and convenient – handling a tank bag is that easy with the new TMACS quick-release fastener from Touratech.
At the heart of the system is a base element that can be screwed onto the original threads of the tank cap in just a few simple steps. All you need are longer screws; otherwise, the motorcycle remains unchanged – a reassuring thought for anyone who doesn't want permanent modifications.

Screwed onto the original threads of the tank cap, the TMACS base element provides a sturdy foundation for the tank bag.
The counterpart is located in the base plate of the tank bag. Made of high-quality plastic, robust in design and precise in shape, it ensures the high precision and durability that adventure riders rightly expect from a Touratech product. The TMACS base element is manufactured at Touratech's headquarters in Niedereschach, while the plastic elements are produced by a Touratech sister company from the Happich Group, also in Germany.
In addition to the system's low profile, which is ideal for off-road use, its ease of use is impressive in practice: powerful neodymium magnets hold the tank bag and tank ring together as if by magic. A quick press is all it takes for the spring-loaded twist lock to secure the bag in place. To remove it, simply pull on the easily accessible release strap. This means no fiddling around, no annoying fumbling, just a quick click – and the tank bag is held securely in place.
Several brand-new tank bag lines that use TMACS are currently in development. But adventure riders don't have to wait that long. Touratech is equipping selected existing tank bag series with the new system. This allows customers to decide for themselves whether they want to stick with the familiar Velcro and straps fastening system or opt for the new, ultra-comfortable TMACS.
The first to feature the system are the Extreme Edition by Touratech Waterproof, Ambato and Travel series for the BMW F 900 GS, BMW R 1250 GS and R 1300 GS, plus the corresponding Adventure variants – further models are in the pipeline.
And development continues. Product manager Dan Prume reveals: ‘We are working on numerous other applications for attaching our soft luggage solutions with TMACS.’ No further details are available yet, but one thing is certain: tank bags are just the beginning. TMACS will soon be taking other soft luggage solutions to a new level of comfort.
